What you can reasonably expect from us.

Qualified Malaysian Counsel

Plain, Honest Communication

We set out the realistic possibilities before we begin work. You will know the likely scope, cost, and timeframe before you commit to anything.

Settlement-Oriented Approach

In dispute matters, we explore negotiated resolution before escalation. Court proceedings are a last resort, not a default position.

Family estate matters are sensitive. All information shared with Amanah is held in strict professional confidence under solicitor-client privilege.

Transparent Fee Structure

Each service carries a stated fee band. There are no hidden charges and no surprises. Any disbursements are discussed with you before they are incurred.

Frequently Asked

Questions we hear often.

What is covered under the Trust Drafting engagement?
The engagement covers preparation of the trust deed, advice on the selection and duties of trustees, and drafting of the board resolutions or letters of appointment needed to put the trust into effect. One review meeting is included. Disbursements such as stamp duty are not included in the fee but are discussed with you in advance.
How does the dispute counsel engagement work in practice?
We begin with an honest review of the facts. We then set out a candid assessment of the realistic outcomes, the likely costs, and the time involved. Where there is room for a negotiated settlement, we will raise that first. Only if settlement is not achievable, or not appropriate, will we advise on formal proceedings.
How long does a beneficiary letter take to prepare?
The standard turnaround is five working days from receipt of your instructions and the relevant background documents. If the matter is time-sensitive, please mention this when you contact us and we will advise on whether an expedited schedule is possible.
Are the fees fixed, or might they change?
The fees shown are starting figures. For most straightforward matters, the engagement is completed within the stated range. If additional complexity emerges — for instance, a trust deed requiring unusual provisions — we will discuss any adjustment with you before proceeding. Nothing is incurred without your agreement.
Will you act for both parties in a family dispute?
No. Where there is a dispute, we act only for one party. If parties are aligned and simply need a neutral arrangement confirmed, that is a different matter — we would discuss the appropriate approach with all parties at the outset.
Do I need to visit the office in person?
An initial meeting is generally helpful, though not always required for shorter engagements such as a beneficiary letter. For trust drafting and dispute matters, we prefer at least one in-person session. We can also arrange video meetings where travel is difficult.
